Vegas Day 9 - Time to Leave

1 min read · Part 13 of 14 in Vegas, June 2009

I didn’t manage to play any real poker yesterday - I was exhausted after stumbling back at 6:30am from Planet Hollywood with The Don who had postponed his flight by one day. Instead I chilled at the Spa and had a slow dinner at AquaKnox.

Speaking of the previous day’s cash session we created an almost all British table, with ourselves, Dom Kay, Ian from LPM and a couple of Mancunian players. Dev was in self exile at Caesars trying to get something going. Unfortunately our table was probably the most difficult (and tight) in the place, although the drinks flowed and there was plenty of good banter.

On top of my luck against the Baron described yesterday, I also got it all in for a $700 on a low flop against one of the Manchester lads with my KK against his QQ. We elected to run it twice and that goodness we did, as a Queen popped out on the first run - that would have been a nasty outdraw, but I got a chop instead.

Myself and Shazbo hit the poker table games for one hour after dinner, and amazingly the heater continued. We racked up over $1k profit in the session, mostly playing Shazbo’s new favourite “Crazy 4 Poker”.

I’ve won over $2k total on these games over the holiday, and this combined with improved cash game form over the last few days has clawed back some of the tournament outgoings. I’ll do the calculations when I get back but I estimate I’m probably down about $3k total for the trip, which isn’t disastrous I guess.

I’ll leave you with an amusing sight - as I passed the Blackjack table last night I noticed a young guy playing the game resplendent in hoodie, shades + ipod. This probably confirmed I am ready for the rain of England again :)
